Sumit Pitiphat and Damrongpol In-chan studied the fundamental beliefs and rituals of the Tai-Ahom ethnic group in Assam, located in northeastern India. The researchers conducted a survey to collect data on the lives and cultures of the Tai-Ahom and other Tai groups, including the Tai Phake, Aiton, Khamyang, Turung, and Khamti.
The survey collected general information about Assam state, including its location, physical characteristics, climate, administration, ethnic population, economic systems, traditional religious beliefs, rituals, and various festivals.
