History of Rangsit Field: From Schomburgk’s Deer, Rice Fields, Female Factory Workers to University Students and Monitor Lizards
While Thammasat University, which proclaims itself as a university for the people and a university where there is freedom at every square inch, is about to turn 80 years old in 2014, the “Thung Luang” or “Thung Rangsit” plain has a history of its own. This history is significantly intertwined with the physical changes of the Central Plains and is closely linked to major transformations in Thai society. It has also integrated lives and a part of Thammasat University into its own complex history. To be concise, the biography of “Thung Luang (Rangsit)” is significantly connected to water, plants, animals, and humans.
