Ban Chiang: The Dawn of Thai Archaeology  

Ban Chiang is not just a mere archaeological site, but a representation of Thai archaeology itself. It has played a crucial role in creating new knowledge and developing research methodologies. The material evidence from the excavations has been systematically studied and analyzed until the present time, particularly by the Ban Chiang Project research team led by Dr. Joyce White. Beyond its academic impact, the archaeology of Ban Chiang has also influenced society. The initial excitement has evolved into a movement of conservation and preservation, securing it as a national heritage site. It stands as a center for cultural learning and a source of pride 

In 1992, this cultural heritage site was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, making it the only prehistoric archaeological site in Thailand to hold this distinction to date.
